Tare
March 20-21, 2026
Lighting design & technical direction: Glen Norris
From the director of SLOWBURN (excerpt):
Tare is our first program that includes choreography from all company members. We have been moving together for years, and this program offers a chance to explore individual perspectives within our own absorbed kinesthetic language. You will see distinct solo choice making at times, and a shared understanding of choreographic preferences at others. You will see a desire for balance, and a desire to even out the scale and start over. If you wish, I invite you to “tare” your own mind in between each piece, perhaps closing your eyes and resetting before the next one.

Choreographer: Shayley Timm
Dancer: Shayley Timm
Music: Jenny of Oldstones by Ramin Djawadi and Discovered in Darkness by Gregory Campbell Johnson
Program Note:
Rooted in Gaelic heritage, "Shay" is an anglicized form of the Irish name "Ó Séaghdha," meaning "hawk-like" and "stately." The name is recognized as both masculine and feminine in nature. In Celtic mythology, hawks often serve as messengers between worlds, said to possess the unique ability to traverse realms. In this work, Ó Séaghdha (pronounced O'Shay) becomes a study in duality— with masculine and feminine identities a constant shift. The story moves fluidly between these energies, carrying insight from one realm to the other.
