Shayley Timm is a Wisconsin-born, Seattle-based dance artist who has trained and performed for over twenty-five years. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornish College of the Arts and spent additional time at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, England, studying Graham and Release technique. She has created and performed work across the United States, appearing in original pieces by Meredith Pellon, Alex Ung, Arinze Okammor, Madeleine Gregor, Cyrus Khambatta, Kyoung-Shin Kim, Wade Madsen, Alicia Mullikan, Laura Ann Smyth, and others. Her performances have been praised by SeattleDances for delivering "measured bursts of pure strength and agility." Her work in Contemporary dance has been recognized with numerous scholarships and awards, including the Outstanding Dancer Award and a Storytelling Award in 2013, and the Outstanding Dance Major Award from Cornish College of the Arts in 2017. Driven by music and the accidental nature of art, she finds her inspiration in the commitment to overcoming and creating in ways that challenge her own idea of beauty — she believes that art is her highest calling, and feels privileged to devote her life to movement. She currently dances with SLOWBURN Dance Company and The Guild Dance Company, as well as for many local festivals and collaborations throughout Seattle. In recent years, she has also begun diving into choreography, creating original pieces such as In three parts (2025), Anesthesia (2026) and HIVE (2026) that have debuted across Seattle. Off stage, Shayley can be found painting, enjoying nature, or continuing her search for the best burrito in Seattle.
